Gas in the United States is averaging over $4.00 a Gallon.
Truckers in their big eighteen wheel rigs are paying between $800-1000 to fill up in Diesel.
The items that they transport are going up in price, adding the cost of fuel to their deliveries.
A full truck load coming from Los Angeles, California to Miami, Florida used to cost between $2000-4000 depending on the product. Now it’s getting closer to $6000 a load on the low side.
Guess who’s going to pay the difference.
Farmers in America’s heartland are trying to live within this new reality of fuel cost. They are locking in their products cost while it’s still in the ground, even as they spiral up by speculators. The price of corn has gone up, mostly because the politicians in the heartland see dollar signs when it comes to Ethanol. Ethanol cost more to make than it’s worth, at the same time the corn product that goes to making Ethanol doesn’t go to feed the animals that we consume.
Ethanol is competing with our food and it’s winning which means we are losing because food prices are going up.
We are seeing food riots in some countries.
We hear about food prices such as Rice going up.
Rice is one of the main staple foods in our world.
Are these isolated incidents or are they a peak into a new reality in the world.
We are producing more food today than at any other time in History. Countries that only a few years ago couldn’t afford to feed their own populations are now running surplus productions.
Food staples are a commodity and like all commodities they are affected by weather, economics, war and consumption.
One other item that is also being affected is the water that is needed to grow our food items. There has been a major drought throughout most of the World. We have seen the almost continual result in Africa, but unknown to most Americans there has been a major drought here as well.
There is the continual water problem in the Western part of the United States. We are not getting the usual amount of mountain snow and because of the heating of our atmosphere, what snow is there is melting earlier creating early spring runoffs.
In some third world countries, that are moving creating consumerism economies, the land that was once used to grow food is being used by local realtors and developer to create jobs and build better homes for their citizens. There’s nothing wrong with this, but you have to ask the question, “Is it going to hurt the food production of the country?”
There are the famous BRIC countries that we have heard people mention. They are Brazil, Russia, India and China. These four countries are going to be the main economic drivers of this century. Brazil is all ready becoming an agriculture powerhouse. It is growing Sugar Cane and not only exporting a majority of it, but also turning most of it into Ethanol fuel and cutting back on Oil as a fuel for its transportation systems. India is introducing credit to its population.
Many Indians are moving up in the Economic Scale. There are over Three hundred Million Indians that are making over $24,000 dollars a year. So, what? That’s the population of the United States. It means that India has a higher buying power than we do.
Russia as we know is a split personality. Its people and businesses are embracing the Global Market and its place in the world business stage. While its government is longing for the old days of it being a political and military superpower trying to force the country back but the Genie is out of the bottle and it will only lead to unrest in Russia. Russia has to re-invent itself politically or rather its leaders need to re-think where they are, where they are going and what is it that they really want the New Russia to be, Missiles or Global Business leadership. Russia has the potential but it needs the political leadership.
China is selling over a million cars a month to first time drivers. Twenty million Chinese a month are leaving inland China for the Coast where the new factories are. Once China has built enough highways and its infrastructure has caught up with its potential, then it will truly become the Chinese Century.
Not enough water to grow our food, prices of fuel to produce product is going up, farmland being turned into consumer needed real estate.
If Oil as predicted by some, reaches $150 a Barrel by December, what will happen to the world economy?
Our present leadership here is failing us.
Their answer for the oil crisis, and it is a crises, is to look for more oil in our own country. What we need is to break away from the need of oil and support the growth of other energy sources. This isn’t going to happen overnight, it will take at least ten years of hard suffering to change our economic basis.
We need to get Detroit to make one third of all new cars as Hybrids.
We need to cut back on our own waste and look for alternatives.
Congress needs to bring back and make even bigger, the tax cuts on Electronic Power Cells for the home and any other steps that the consumer takes to cut them off the grid. For every one that cuts out of the electric grid, the better it will be for the grid itself and for other consumers. The Electric Grid in this country is straining at the seams and beyond.
We are headed for a different world than the one that we have known for the past sixty years. We have to look at the past sixty years as the Post War Years.
We created new economies, new countries, and new cultures. We are in the position now of change once again.
Our rapid devour of energy and product is unheard of in History.
Our demand for more is out raking needed commodities. We are headed toward dangerous grounds and we have to stop and start thinking of what we can do to change.
The food riots we are witnessing today may be common tomorrow.
Are we ready to send troops to fight for food to feed out population?
Are we ready to tell our sons and daughters that they will have to put their lives on the line in order for us to turn on our lights?
We are all ready at War and we need to take drastic steps to alleviate the situation at home.
The Strain and stress of the Global Markets is starting to show.
Consumerism is rampant throughout the world and there are no constraints.
Where will we be within five years if we don’t take a stance now and begin to make some drastic changes?

Fear Of The Unknown In Europe
MPP is a major company, a world leader in marketing communications. They help their clients to compete successfully in marketing strategy as well as advertising actually every form of marketing communication. They have leading companies in: Advertising; Media investment management; Information, insight & consultancy; Public relations & public affairs; Branding & Identity; Healthcare communications; Direct, promotion & relationship marketing; Specialist communications.
Now you would think a company is very strong financially and has a great future. Well WPP does. It pays over $850 to Google alone in advertisement on behalf of its customers.
Recently the United Kingdom company created a partnership last week with Yahoo that would let WPP buy ads and help Yahoo extend its customer base.
Why is MPP getting so close to Yahoo?
It’s fear.
Fear of an American Company that many Europeans and others around the Global Market are in fear of.
No, it’s not Bill Gates and Microsoft.
It’s the boys from Silicon Valley, named Google.
Yes, that six letter word that is scaring a lot of companies around the world, especially in Europe.
Why so much fear about a little ole company like Google.
Well Google started out as a small search engine. It still does that today but now it’s entering new areas. Areas that many in Europe fear will be an invasion on possible markets for them.
Now what does Google have that the others fear so much. Well for starters, how about money. Google has a lot of cash on hand and its ready to spread it to get into new markets.
Another thing Google has is Brain Assets. It has a lot of smart people working within its offices ready to come up with new ideas and enter new markets to make new avenues of revenue.
Now why do the European Corporations really fear it?
I think it’s because of the Brain Assets.
Google has hired a lot of very smart people and they also realize that their main asset is not just the money that they have in the bank, but the intelligent asset that they have in their people. They are willing to listen and let their people develop concepts and take them to ideas, then develop them further into projects and finally avenue of revenues for the company.
Google and its people realize who they are and where they want to be. It is because of this that they are successful and it is because of this that the Europeans fear them.
WPP itself is a world leader in marketing communications, but just to protect itself, it has made joint deals with Google and Yahoo, both are competitors in the Global Market. WPP is also a competitor of Google in setting up advertising venues for its customers.
WPP realizes that it has to deal with Google and Yahoo so it has split its advertisement market dealing with both of them. This is something it does out of necessity. It has to offer the best possible form of marketing to its customers and Google and Yahoo are the best at this time on the Internet and when the Internet finally reaches over Six Billion Customers, WPP will be in a position to approach and advertised to them all.
Europeans, Google is not something to be feared. It is only a tool that is to be used for your marketing and advertisement. It’s just another way to reach customers. If you’re not happy with it, then use your Brain Assets and develop a new means. That is what so glorious of this system called the Internet. It is open to all. All you need is a new idea and you can be off to a Global Market that one day will attract the World’s Population as its market.

National Energy Plan
America must have an energy policy that plans for the future, but meets the needs of today. I believe we can develop our natural resources and protect our environment. – George W. Bush
What is America’s National Energy Plan? Does anyone know?
The White House, that is our leaders, supposedly has one.
Here are some excerpts from this ‘Wonderful’ Energy Plan.
The United States Is Reducing Dependence On Oil By Diversifying Energy Supply, Increasing Energy Efficiency .
The United States Is Increasing Renewable Fuels And Reducing Its Dependence On Oil Through Improved Energy Efficiency.
You see the Bush Government knows what it’s doing. Somehow I don’t think it’s making you feel any better especially with Oil at $135 dollars a barrel. I hate to rain on your parade but get ready to pay $5 to $12 Dollars a Gallon within the next six months.
Let me throw some numbers at you.
$7 Dollars, $11 Dollars, $.45 Cents.
What are those numbers?
Well the first one is the price per gallon in Great Britain, the second number the price per gallon in Germany and the last number, you’re going to love this is the price per gallon in Saudi Arabia.
Now, here’s a couple of more numbers.
20 Million, 17 Million, 1 Billion.
Okay, no, that’s not the price per gallon in the future.
The first number is the number of Chinese who come from the Chinese country side looking for work in the Coastal City. That’s 20 Million a week.
The next number is the numbers of cars sold in China in 2007 from only 1.3 Million in 2003.
Finally, 1 Billion is the population of India at this time and it’s getting ready to begin the same march of economical growth that China has seen in recent years.
Recently the Bush Administration came up with an ENERGY FOR A NEW CENTURY, it’s an interesting but boring read but here’s the gist of it.
According to the Report by the Government, ENERGY FOR A NEW CENTURY, its chapter on Increasing Domestic Energy Supplies states:
Economic factors will help determine the future development of our nation’s energy sources. These factors will be shaped not only by conservation, energy demand, and the cost of energy development, but also by the regulations that federal, state, and local governments put in place to balance energy needs with legitimate competing aims, including the protection of the environment. A number of factors will make it difficult to increase domestic energy production in response to the growing demand for energy: economic and technological factors associated with depletion of the fossil fuel resource base in the U.S.; regulatory uncertainty; limitations on access to federal lands with high potential for new discoveries; infrastructure constraints, such as electricity transmission and gas pipeline bottlenecks; and conflicts with legitimate land use, environmental, and other public policy goals.
Summary of Recommendations
Energy for a New Century: Increasing Domestic Energy Supplies
★ The NEPD Group recommends that the President direct the Secretaries of Energy and the Interior to promote enhanced oil and gas recovery from existing wells through new technology.
★ The NEPD Group recommends that the President direct the Secretary of Energy to improve oil and gas exploration technology through continued partnership with public and private entities.
★ The NEPD Group recommends that the President direct the Secretary of the Interior to examine land status and lease stipulation impediments to federal oil and gas leasing, and review and modify those where opportunities exist (consistent with the law, good environmental practice, and balanced use of other resources).
• Expedite the ongoing Energy Policy and Conservation Act study of impediments to federal oil and gas exploration and development.
• Review public lands withdrawals and lease stipulations, with full public consultation, especially with the people in the region, to consider modifications where appropriate.
★ The NEPD Group recommends that the President direct the Secretary of the Interior to consider economic incentives for environmentally sound offshore oil and gas development where warranted by specific circumstances: explore opportunities for royalty reductions, consistent with ensuring a fair return to the public where warranted for enhanced oil and gas recovery; for reduction of risk associated with production in frontier areas or deep gas formations; and for development of small fields that would otherwise be uneconomic.
★ The NEPD Group recommends that the President direct the Secretaries of Commerce and Interior to re-examine the current federal legal and policy regime (statutes, regulations, and Executive Orders) to determine if changes are needed regarding energy-related activities and the siting of energy facilities in the coastal zone and on the Outer Continental Shelf (OCS).
★ The NEPD Group recommends that the President direct the Secretary of the Interior continue OCS oil and gas leasing and approval of exploration and development plans on predictable schedules.
★ The NEPD Group recommends that the President direct the Secretary of the Interior to consider additional environmentally responsible oil and gas development, based on sound science and the best available technology, through further lease sales in the National Petroleum Reserve-Alaska. Such consideration should include areas not currently leased within the Northeast corner of the Reserve.
★ The NEPD Group recommends that the President direct the Secretary of the Interior work with Congress to authorize exploration and, if resources are discovered, development of the 1002 Area of ANWR. Congress should require the use of the best available technology and should require that activities will result in no significant adverse impact to the surrounding environment.
• Energy for A New Century: Increasing Domestic Energy Supplies 5-20
★ The NEPD Group recommends that the President direct the Secretary of the Interior to work with Congress and the State of Alaska to put in place the most expeditious process for renewal of the Trans-Alaska Pipeline System rights-of-way to ensure that Alaskan oil continues to flow uninterrupted to the West Coast of the United States.
★ The NEPD Group recommends that the President direct the Secretary of Energy to propose comprehensive electricity legislation that promotes competition, protects consumers, enhances reliability, promotes renewable energy, improves efficiency repeals the Public Utility Holding Company Act, and reforms the Public Utility Regulatory Policies Act.
★ The NEPD Group recommends that the President encourage FERC to use its existing statutory authority to promote competition and encourage investment in transmission facilities.
★ The NEPD Group recognizes the importance of looking to technology to help us meet the goals of increasing electricity generation while protecting our environment. To that end, the NEPD Group recommends that the President direct the Department of Energy to continue to develop advanced clean coal technology by:
• Investing $2 billion over 10 years to fund research in clean coal technologies.
• Supporting a permanent extension of the existing research and development tax credit.
• Directing federal agencies to explore regulatory approaches that will encourage advancements in environmental technology.
★ The NEPD Group recommends that the President direct federal agencies to provide greater regulatory certainty relating to coal electricity generation through clear policies that are easily applied to business decisions.
★ The NEPD Group recommends that the President support the expansion of nuclear energy in the United States as a major component of our national energy policy. Following are specific components of the recommendation:
• Encourage the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) to ensure that safety and environmental protection are high priorities as they prepare to evaluate and expedite applications for licensing new advanced-technology nuclear reactors.
• Encourage the NRC to facilitate efforts by utilities to expand nuclear energy generation in the United States by up rating existing nuclear plants safely.
• Encourage the NRC to relicense existing nuclear plants that meet or exceed safety standards.
• Direct the Secretary of Energy and the Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency to assess the potential of nuclear energy to improve air quality.
• Increase resources as necessary for nuclear safety enforcement in light of the potential increase in generation.
• Use the best science to provide a deep geologic repository for nuclear waste.
• Support legislation clarifying that qualified funds set aside by plant owners for eventual decommissioning will not be taxed as part of the transaction.
• Support legislation to extend the Price–Anderson Act.
NATIONAL ENERGY POLICY
★ The NEPD Group recommends that, in the context of developing advanced nuclear fuel cycles and next generation technologies for nuclear energy, the United States should reexamine its policies to allow for research, development and deployment of fuel conditioning methods (such as pyro-processing) that reduce waste streams and enhance proliferation resistance. In doing so, the United States will continue to discourage the accumulation of separated plutonium, worldwide.
★ The United States should also consider technologies (in collaboration with international partners with highly developed fuel cycles and a record of close cooperation) to develop reprocessing and fuel treatment technologies that are cleaner, more efficient, less waste-intensive, and more proliferation-resistant.
★ The NEPD Group recognizes there is a need to reduce the time and cost of the hydropower licensing process. The NEPD Group recommends that the President encourage the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and direct federal resource agencies to make the licensing process more clear and efficient, while preserving environmental goals. In addition, the NEPD Group recognizes the importance of optimizing the efficiency and reliability of existing hydropower facilities and will encourage the Administration to adopt efforts toward that end.
• Support administrative and legislative reform of the hydropower licensing process.
• Direct federal resource agencies to reach interagency agreement on conflicting mandatory license conditions before they submit their conditions to FERC for inclusion in a license.
• Encourage FERC to adopt appropriate deadlines for its own actions during the licensing process.
So, what does it all mean?
It means that the Bush Administration is either on some hallucination drugs or it believes that Disney and Tinkerbelle are the answer to the energy problem.
What do we need?
We need to raise the price of oil so that we force our citizens to cut off from oil. We tell Detroit, only Hybrids or Diesel cars and small cars please. We also look for another fuel for warming out houses in the winters. Oil can no longer be used to heat homes. And most important of all, get rid of this Corn wasted fuel. We need the corn to eat for ourselves or to feed the animals we eat, not to make some farmers happy to get rid of their corn products.
What got us into this problem to begin with?
Well, a lot of Chinese and Indian drivers demanding to fill up their cars, as well as greedy speculators, greedy Arabs who realize that without Oil they have only sand.
Our own citizens who have not looked to cut back on use for the past forty years, Detroit wanting to avoid changes in engines and gas mileage targets and last but not least Congress.
Yes, those impeccable leaders who are quick to blame the market when their constitutions complain about paying too much at the pump.
Congress is just as much to blame, changing all those gas mileage estimates for cars.
If they had let it alone we probably would have 80 miles or more per gallon.
Thanks Senator, thanks Congressmen. When I’m paying ten dollars a gallon I will be thinking of you.

For Sale, The Biggest Gas Guzzling Car On The Market
Okay, so you loved it when you bought your little ole SUV a couple of years ago.
Hey, it’s perfect for off road and if need be, you can turn it into a suburban tank and run over the bad guys who invaded your neighborhood.
It holds about 42 gallons and at almost $4 dollars a gallon you’re paying $168 dollars each fill up. But wait a minute, you’re getting at least 18 miles to the Gallon on the highway so that means you’re going over 756 miles between fill ups. Another thing, that SUV is ready to save you and your loved ones in case of an emergency. Say, a meteor is coming toward the East Coast Line, you need to get the family up into higher ground, but the roads are clogged with others trying to save their lives. You can take your Suburban Tank off road and make your own roadway to safety.
So, if you’re willing to pay $168 dollars a fill up, keep your Suburban Tank but if you are tearing your hair out and wish that someone could take your hunk of expensive metal away, guess what? You’re not alone. More and more two car families are leaving the Suburban Tank in the garage and driving around the cheaper second car. People are running to the dealerships and trying to unload their SUV’s but to no avail. You bought it, you own it.
What can you do with a car that is costing you more to operate than your monthly payments for it?
It’s way too big to turn into a paper weight.
If you’re lucky, you’ll get it smashed up in an accident, but those things are so rugged, it’ll just be a small dent. Those things are meant to survive anything other than a direct nuclear blast.
In other words, if you own an SUV and are getting killed at the pump, you have two choices, first, smile while you spend all that money. Secondly, put it to the side and leave it there, hopefully you might be able to sell it to a junkyard dealer by the pound, you’ll still take a loss but at least it’s something coming in.
So, what do you do with the money after you sell the Suburban Tank to a junkyard dealer by the pound?
You look into the Hybrid.
Honda has just announced that they are going to make 200,000 new hybrids for next year, expecting to sell 100,000 or half of them in the United States.
Meanwhile, Nissan is planning to bring Electric Cars into the U.S. for the 2010 market. Not to be out done, GM is also planning to bring out electric cars in 2010. Does anyone remember the successful GM Electric cars of the 1990’s? Does the documentary, ‘WHO KILLED THE ELECTRIC CAR?” ring a bell? GM had a good car who’s customers loved, then recalled them all took them out to the desert and destroyed them.
What are American’s looking for in a car?
Basically the average American needs a car that goes around thirty miles distance a day. GM’s Electric Car was supposed to get 80 miles between charges.
Sometimes you’ve got to wonder, does GM really want to make money or is just around for the fun of it?
Now, it’s playing catch up, again.
So, does anyone want to buy a 2008 Suburban, low mileage, 42 Gallon capacity, asking for anything.
Remember, they may not tell you when the next meteor is going to hit.

How Do You Get Your Brand Name Out There?
What’s in a brand name?
In fact, how many times do you mention a brand name in a conversation?
Well according to the people who go around asking questions and taking survey’s they calculate that we mention Brand Names about three to twelve times in one week.
That’s not too bad but consider that brand new mom’s and pregnant women mention Brand Names about 100 times a week in conversations.
Why?
Well, pregnant women and new moms are on the lookout for the consumer products that they are going to need to help their growing family get along safely in life.
Moms, according to estimates, spend around $1.7 Trillion Dollars a year in consumer product buying and most of it is done by word of mouth.
When a couple finally decides to settle down and raise children, it’s not a very easy process.
Too many parents, especially the mom, it’s a very important decision and it must be done right. Everything is on the table when it comes to children and I do mean everything. From the food the child will eat, the cleaning products to be used around the child, the kind of material that they will sleep in, the car seat in the car, the car.
There’s a whole list of products from A to Z that new moms will look at and who is an expert that Mom can talk to but another Mom that has all ready gone through the process.
A study done by BabyCenter and The Keller Fay Group found that one in five pregnant women and new moms were identified as word-of-mouth leaders. That means that these word-of-mouth leader moms recommended consumer products for the new moms or pregnant women to buy.
The study showed that pregnant women and new moms carried a product recommendation to buy, consider or try in 60 percent of their conversations.
Moms will talk to other moms and they will talk about technology, financial services, health care, food/dining, media/entertainment, shopping and retail experiences. They will talk about brands and what their experiences has been with those brands.
There were ten brands that were on the top of the list of Pregnant Women and new mom’s conversation:
1. Target
2. Walmart
3. Verizon
4. AT&T
5. Coke
6. Apple Computers
7. Pampers
8. Sprint
9. Gerber Food
10. Pepsi
Okay, so it’s no surprise that a place to go shopping and basically get all the other items are the top two brands that moms talk about, but it is surprising that Apple Computers is on the top ten list of brands for Mom. Why? Technology is one of our main tools of communications. In other words, Mom has taken to communicate with other moms on the internet. Plus it’s a great place to go and look up information on Brands.
Moms can email each other do some research on a product and find out more information and even check on prices. So, Apple Computers is high on the list for pregnant women and new moms. It’s technology is much easier than PC especially with the new Vista.
Moms go online now for almost everything. Prices on items, information on the items, who built it, medical information, recipes, travel, car prices and so forth.
Now that you know about pregnant women and new moms the next question you need to ask yourself as a business person is how you contact this network?
Well if you’re on the internet you can do it through Blogs, chats, message boards and social network. Find ways to make contact with this group, their family and friends.
Here are five ideas from Tina Sharkey at the BabyCenter, the largest online resource for expectant and new parents around the world
1. Give them something to talk about. Encourage word-of-mouth components within your brand briefs and marketing objectives. Leverage partnerships with sites with deep audience affinity, and gain strategic insights to hone in on what's going to resonate with the audience. According to a recent Booz Allen Hamilton study, consumer insights topped the list of the most important capabilities to marketers by 2010. But don't just gather them, use them.
2. Encourage participation. Give consumers access to simple tools and applications like video and photo uploading to encourage collaboration and contribution. Make it easy for them to show their creativity and become part of the mosaic. Marketing today is becoming more about co-creating experiences with consumers than pushing messages. Arm your consumers with ways to pass along what they've heard. Think send-to-friend, IM and email.
3. Enable sharing. It's imperative to make sure your technology is in sync with the digital ecosystem, so sharing activities are not only possible, but better yet, enabled by you! Encourage virality by allowing users to post to YouTube, Facebook and other social sites. Create sharing tools so people can easily send executions through Outlook or AIM. Also, don't forget to negotiate sharing rights into your contracts up front so there aren't any last minute surprises.
4. Observe, listen and learn. Pay attention to and rely on the wisdom of crowds. Create a feedback loop and troll blogs to see how your brand, product and message resonate -- which leads us to tip No. 5…
5. Iterate. Iterate. Iterate. Make your campaign and creative flexible. Use your feedback loop to refine creative to better serve the needs of your audience.
So, if you have a new product or introducing a new line, think of how you can get your information to the pregnant and new moms out there. You Brand may become known a lot faster than you thought.

Yahoo Is Kicking And Screaming All The Way
Carl Ichan wants it but Jerry Yang doesn't.
Steve Ballmer wants it, well, maybe yes, oh, maybe not.
Yahoo is on the line right now.
Yang will do whatever he can in order not to join Microsoft which makes Carl Ichan cringe. He just wants the stock to hit $32-34 Dollars.
Everyone in Silicon Valley knows that sooner or later Microsoft and Yahoo need to become one. Everyone but Jerry Yang one of the original founders of Yahoo wants it to happen. It just so happens that Yang owns a big piece of Yahoo and doesn’t want to go to Microsoft. Right now, he’s king of the hill, but if Ballmer takes over Yahoo, Yang may be out of a job. What does that mean? It means he won’t have a place to go to every day when he wakes up. He won’t have anything to do but lie around and count his Billions.
Carl Ichan wants the deal to happen and was very upset when Microsoft walked away a couple of weeks ago. He owns a lot of Yahoo stock and would make some nice money if it sold to Microsoft.
Now, like the line in GODFATHER 3, Just when you thought you were out, “They drag me back in.”
Microsoft is dragging Jerry Yang back to the brim.
They want to see about making a deal and Carl Ichan wants to help them.
Poor Jerry, being a billionaire is hard these days especially when other bigger Billionaires are after your baby.
Why does Ballmer want Yahoo?
Well, there’s this little company named Google and they are growing as a powerhouse on the Internet and as everyone who knows anything knows, the Internet is the new battleground for business.
We are becoming a communication junkie society. Think about this, less than twenty five years ago, you wanted to communication with another business on the other side of town, you sent out a six cent stamped letter, waited about a week for a reply and then started your negotiations. Then the FAX machine came out in the mid 1980’s and you sent that letter out and got a reply sometimes within the same day. Now, you can sit in your outdoor coffee joint, either with your laptop or phone, get on the Internet and communicate instantly with your business opposite on the other side of the world.
Is that powerful?
Oh, yeah and Microsoft wants to be a major player in that little communications that you do, so does Google and that what it’s all about. Well, just multiply your little business transactions by about six billion and you’ll get an idea of the potential money making possibilities of this little communication system.
You see, there is little advertisements on each one of these internet pages and they pay to have their name seen. Again, think about multiplying this by about six billion.
Okay, so now we have an idea of what’s going on.
If Microsoft gets to buy Yahoo, they will have a major foothold on the internet and become a major internet player overnight giving Google almost instant competition.
You have to feel sorry for Jerry Yang because he’s the guy that’s fighting the wind. The wind will continue to blow and poor Yang will be blown away by the hurricane force of Microsoft.
He says he’s fighting for more money from Microsoft and wants more than $34 a share. He might get it from Microsoft, but he will not be happy with it at all.
What he wants is for Microsoft to just go away.
Just like the child who’s afraid of the dark. He’ll hide under the cover and pray that the boogeyman will disappear or that mom and dad will come in and turn on the light to scare away the monsters from the darkness.
Sorry, Jerry.
The lights been on the whole time and the monster you fear is not going away.

The Flat World May Have A Bump
We've all heard that the new Global World of Business has become a Flat World where all is even and everyone has the chance to do the same. The bottom line is customer service and Global Marketing.
That sounds easy enough but why the Recession that we are entering?
Well, if you didn't hear it before, the possible Global Recession is due to bad deals in credit. There was a stampede, almost worldwide to give credit away, no matter what their chance of paying it back. It was a lot similar to the Real Estate horror that Japan went through in the Nineties, when their real estate market bubble burst. Now, it was the U.S. real estate market that burst. People were buying real estate, putting very little down buying property then quickly turning it around and selling it and making a profit while the paint was still wet.
Eventually everyone that could afford a mortgage got one, then the interest started to go up. All those people with the inflated mortgages soon discovered that they couldn't turn the real estate product over fast enough and they had to pay higher mortgage payments.
It caught up and people had to lower the price or walk away from the properties.
Now we have the Global Market going through the same recession as the United States Marketplace.
People going into Global Market have always thought, that all you needed to do was just put the product out there and the customer would run to it.
Why?
Because of the Global Market. Isn't that how its supposed to work. You make the product, put it out there, the consumer buys it and everybody is happy.
One rule that Global Manufacturers and Distributors must remember, is this, 'Be Global, Think Local.'
Yes, you might be getting your product into India and China, but is it moving? Remember there is a difference between Southern India and Northern India as well as Coastal China and inland China.
Its India, and it's China, how can there be a difference?
Okay, you didn't do your homework and because of it, you're going to pay big.
India is separated North and South by money and culture. Understand it and make it work for you.
China is also separated culturally and economically.
Coastal China is where many of the new factories have taken root. There are more jobs available near the Coastal areas as well as higher income compared to those still living further inland who are forced into an agricultural economy.
Global manufacturing companies must do their work and investigate their markets, population, economy and culture.
The Global Market is there and waiting for the Companies that realize that there World is not one fits all. There is a need for some change but its only a matter of education and acceptance before it becomes completely accepted.

Crisis Communications
You're about to be hit by a major crisis and like everyone, you're not ready.
Think about this.
A famous actor has one too many one night and on the way home he is pulled over.
Okay, to Jail pay the two hundred dollar fine and live on with your life.
No wait, this guy wants his fifteen minutes of fame to turn into an eternity. He goes and accuses the Police Officer of racial and religious slurs.
Are we having an out of body experience here?
Has this guy completely lost it?
The pressures of Hollywood may really be too much for some people. It’s even worse these days for the guys in Crisis Communications. They have more clients than they should be having. Either people have all of a sudden gotten a whole lot dumber or we as a society are having a breakdown.
The truth be told that what Bill Gates wrote for the title of his book, BUSINESS AT THE SPEED OF LIGHT can also be used for all forms of communication within our society.
Communications is almost faster than the speed of light if you can believe that.
It used to take a couple of days for a scandal to break if it broke at all, then a couple of days for people to get the full detail, by that time the so called scandal could have had several changes made in the fact to either soften it or to just make it go away before any real harm is done.
Today with the Internet, 24/7 News, instant blogs and hundreds of other communications tools, a scandal gets to have a life of its own in some instants. Once they begin they just don’t seem to go away and the 24/7 News cycle finds them easy to regurgitate.
Don’t believe it, look at the recent custody battle or whatever that show was dealing with Anna Nicole Smith. First it was her denying who the father of her baby was, and everything that went with it. How much money did she make on those videos with the baby in her arms?
Then the shocker.
She dies all of a sudden leaving a possible $850 Million dollar fortune floating in Space.
Who is the father and will he please stand up?
Like Jim Carrey said on TV, for $850 Million any man in America will claim fatherhood and call that baby a new name, Meal Ticket.
It was all like a three act play, the first act, Anna Nicole is pregnant by unknown person, (No, not another Immaculate Conception) if anything this one’s father had a name, just couldn’t figure out who and when.
Then Anna Nicole passes away, a real shocker to some, expected by others due to Mom’s usage of recreational drugs.
Then the third act finding the father of the baby.
Even a judge in Florida was driven to tears trying to figure this one out.
All of these people needed some Crisis Communication to help them not only survive but to make sense of the situation they found themselves in.
Now individuals are not the only ones that need Crisis Communications, Corporations and Government need just as much.
We are on a 24/7 Time Zone and you never know when the next disaster is coming at you and how it will affect you.
Oh, and by the way, if you own a business or work for the national, state or city government or if you work in a business.
Disaster is coming, only guess what?
You’re not ready for it.
Think about this.

Hillary’s Gas Holiday Tax
Presidential Candidate Hillary Clinton is getting desperate in her bid to outlast Barrack Obama in the bid to become the Democratic Nominee for President in this year’s election.
Not one Economist or for that matter not one political of any kind has endorsed her idea of a Gas Holiday Tax. Not even her Economic Adviser's, one just shrugged and said, “It’s Politics as usual.” This is a Woman who wants to be President and is willing to do ‘Politics as Usual’. That’s not what the voters want to hear these days while they are paying up to $4 Dollars a Gallon. People are beginning to get angry and they want to know why they are paying that much for gasoline.
Well, you have all heard of the fact that the Chinese are buying cars, mostly from Japan and have you heard about India, buying cars, mostly from Japan. Guess what that means, they need gas to make their cars go.
Now, let’s do a little math here to help you figure things out. There are over 2 Billion Chinese in China, and 1 Billion People in India. Now let us say the same amount of people who have cars in the United States are driving in China maybe we’ll just round off the Chinese and Indian Drivers.
U.S. Cars 136,000,000
Chinese 136,000,000
India 136,000,000
Total 408,000,000
Are you still with me on this?
Now let’s figure each car needs about 12 Gallons of car a week, each week. 408,000,000 X 12 Gallons = 4,896,000,000 Gallons Per Week or in one year it would be 254,592,000,000 Gallons.
Now that is just three countries.
Now here’s another question.
Whose fault is it?
YOU AND ME.
Since the 1960’s Congress has been telling Detroit to bring up the Mileage Per Gallon in our cars. If the law had been in effect and we did not let Congress or Detroit fool around with it. We would be getting well over to 80 Miles to the Gallon by now.
So, who’s fault is it?
You and Me.
Why?
Because we’re the fools who vote the Big Fools into office and let them get away with it.
Now back to Hillary and her foolish idea. Yes, it’s foolish.
First of all no one in Washington will mess with it. Everyone and I mean from Warren Buffet on down says it’s wrong. They all know that once the tax is over, the oil companies will just raise the price and get back the money that they lost in the first place.
You see, Senator Clinton, the Oil Companies are in business for only one thing and only one thing.
TO MAKE MONEY.
This is a capitalist country, the reason for capitalism is to make money.
Senator Clinton, you all ready caused Americans to lose money by not supporting the recent agreement with Columbia. You basically have told the Colombians that if they want to make money and work with the United States they’re going to have to do it the old fashion way of smuggling more drugs into the North America and continue to poison our youth. No, Columbia will not be allowed to create free trade unions that will mirror and be influenced by the United States. Senator Clinton thinks the Colombians should go back to the days of the Cartel and the cocaine growing wild.
Now, you have this idea of punishing the oil companies by proposing a tax that they will get back within a short time.
If you really want to do something for the American People then tell them this.
We are at War.
Not only with Terrorist who hate our way of life but with political ideologies that want to destroy our very culture.
Since we are a country at war, desperate measures are needed and here are my top ten needs for this country:
1. Raise Gas to $5 a Gallon. Yeah, it hurts but we can live through it. Start thinking conservation people.
2. Tell Detroit only Hybrids and Diesel cars can be made starting 2010. Get rid of those big pick-ups and Hummers. What the hell were they thinking when they came out with those?
3. Tell Iowa to put the corn back into the animals and lower our food prices. Screw this Bio-fuel experiment with corn. Do it with sugar and that will cut the sugar usage for alcohol.
4. Tell people the truth. Those jobs that left, are not coming back, but we’re going to start training them for the future. We need to create jobs for the Global Market that means our customers are Global, not local. We need to start thinking this way.
5. Anyone who goes back to school to upgrade and better train themselves will be able to write off all education expenses.
6. Families who send their kids to a four year institute and on to graduate school can write off all education expenses.
7. All High Schools are going to have to go on a full year schedule we cannot afford to have our future wasted. Our kids need this in order to be competitive in the future with the Global Economy. A couple of weeks of during the summer for a family vacation is all that is needed.
8. There is to be no HIGH SCHOOL DROPOUT. If you cannot handle or deal with High School then you can go to trade school, Job Corp or some other program, but you need to know to do something. Society CANNOT afford to carry you.
9. Consider reinstating the Draft. Two years away from Mommy can turn a lot of little boys into men. We still need that rite of passage, it’s a biological thing. It can help us avoid having a lot of lost in-sensitive young men in our society who are walking around with a chip on their shoulders. Draft the girls too. Show them what equality really means.
10. Fight to get a Line Veto vote through Congress. Hell! Make it an amendment.
Okay, Hillary, Obama and Mac, show the American People who’s got the guts to do something which will cause a lot of headaches at first, but in the long run will help the Country continue to succeed.

Technology Solutions for Non-Profits
How do you keep your Non-Profit competitive with the Profit Companies that have the money to go out and buy new hardware and software?
Well, let’s look at your organization through the eyes of a Profit Corporation.
Most important in today’s economy is Communications with your people. You need to get the word out and receive information from the front lines.
This brings several factors in and the first of these is computer power.
Your Non-Profit needs to invest in computers that have the capabilities to work in the Internet, researching and gathering information as well as releasing information about your organization and its accomplishments.
If no one knows you exist or what you do, no one can support you or use your services.
Secondly, let us look at your communication system within your organization. Is your organization spread out over a large area? Say several counties or even states.
And you need to be able to have meetings to keep everyone on the same page. Another suggestion is an investment in Cell phones such as Nextell Systems that have radio capabilities. You can save cell phone minutes by using the Walkie-Talkie method that this System has to offer.
You can communicate immediately with just those people that you want to talk to.
Also Email through your organization is another excellent method to keep in communications and get information out to the troops.

CREATIVE THINKING FOR YOUR CUSTOMERS
Who knows your customer better than you?
You know what they want, when they need it, how much they want, and how soon before they re-order again. You even know how much they pay and how quickly they pay thus giving you an idea of their sales and the financial health of the company.
After all, they are your customers.
Is this information of any value to you?
Of course it helps you maintain your inventory, when to buy products, how soon before your accounts receivable will be healthy to help you continue to grow, how much is going out on accounts payable. If your customer is expanding do you need to think about expanding your operation as well?
As a supplier, you need to know all of this and more.
Another way to look at it is that since you know so much about this Customers Company that you are really a Consultant for your Customers Company.
Wait a minute! Is this what you’re saying?
I just took you from a Supplier to a Consultant?
Hey, and I only did it in a couple of sentences.
How can you become a Consultant for your Customer?
Think about it. You know this company, you depend on this company and in some cases you really can’t do without this company.
Sit down and identify the old Business School SWOT about your customer.
Now if you’re saying what is SWOT, then we need a little Business School recap.
SWOT stands for: Strength, Weakness, Opportunity, Threats.
Now depending on your relationship with your Customer, you might be able to sit down together and create your SWOT Analysis together. If not, do it yourself.
Bring in your people one day and sit down and develop a SWOT Analysis.
Now this would be across the board for you, it would consist of manufacturing, shipping, sales, marketing and even your accounting department. Bring them in and don’t give them any boundaries or limits. Let this be an open meeting and anyone can say anything they want. Remember, there is no stupid questions just stupid people who wouldn’t let the questions be asked. This is the future of your customer and what are their chances of surviving.
The most important question you have to ask yourself is, if this customer disappears one day, do you survive?
After your people have completed your SWOT Analysis, put it on paper, then sit down with your Customer and go over it. Show them how your company can be of assistance in growth or maybe in delivery. You might invest in a new computer system that will help your customers sales force order directly from you or in a new transportation system. Your customer might even offer to come in and help pay some of the investment that you are about to lay out because they can see how much it will help them in the long run.
What will be the end result?
Well if your customer is smart and they better be for your sake. They will see that you are interested in their growth, because if they grow, you will grow.
You have actually become a consultant or if you want to think of it in another way, a partner that is interested in their growth and success.
